Organizational Background. The Company That I Am Evaluating

Organizational Background The company that I am evaluating is Facebook; it is a for-profit corporation and online social media and social networking service based in Menlo Park, California. The Facebook website was launched in 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg, along with fellow Harvard College students. The network was promptly extended to other Boston universities, the Ivy League and eventually all US universities. In June 2004, Facebook received first private investment from Peter Theil, the founder of PayPal. It became Facebook.com in August 2005 after the address was purchased for $200,000 and began to spread worldwide, reaching UK universities the following month (ICD 2016). Planning To ensure the company’s competitiveness in the long term, Facebook’s approach is to continuously innovate products, and achieve a product design that supports its business goals. Facebook collects feedback from its users to address issues, through this strategy company continue to meet customer’s requirements. Due to fast growth in demand, operations managers are concerned about the processes and resources needed for adequate production of social media services for users and advertisers. To resolve this issue, operation managers use online technologies alongside an innovative approach to human resource management. For example, iteration of product improvement and innovation is supported through online technologies that facilitate efficient dissemination of data among work teams in Facebook’s facilities ( Young,2017).
